Studio Ghibli Fest 2023: Full list of all movies, showtimes, and release calendar

December 2024 · 3 minute read

Ever since it was founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Toshio Suzuki, Isao Takahata, and Yasuyoshi Tokuma in 1985, Studio Ghibli has been at the forefront of anime movies. To celebrate Miyazaki’s groundbreaking achievements in this field, Fathom Events in partnership with GKIDS (responsible for bringing international films like Lu Over the Wall, Lupin III: The First, and The Secret of Kells to the U.S.) has hosted an annual Studio Ghibli Fest since 2017 in North America. Unlike previous years, Studio Ghibli Fest 2023 will host more screenings of Miyazaki’s best works than ever before.

As confirmed by Dexerto, each film will have an exclusive excerpt from the four-part documentary series 10 Years With Hayao Miyazaki, which explores the career of the renowned filmmaker. Studio Ghibli Fest 2023 started on March 25, 2023, with perhaps the most infamous anime film to ever exist, My Neighbor Totoro, and will end on November 1, 2023.

In case you missed out on March, April, and May’s screenings, we’ve got you covered for the rest of the year. Thankfully, although you might have missed some of Studio Ghibli’s most iconic works, it’s safe to say there are still some of the best yet to come, so fret not. Naturally, there have been several Studio Ghibli films not featured in the 2023 Fest, but these are the lesser-known projects that unfortunately didn’t gain as much traction as the films below. Many of them are also too modern to be labeled as ‘classics’ just yet, so we’re focusing on Studio Ghibli’s ’80s and ’90s era, also considered to be its prime.
