Hot on the wheels of Cucuruz Doan’s Island came Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, the latest addition to the Gundam franchise’s main timeline. This original anime series made history in the franchise by introducing its very first female protagonist, as well as portraying a main character in a same-sex relationship for the first time.

On Crunchyroll, the anime is described as follows: “A.S. (Ad Stella) 122 ― An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.”

Shortly after the first season finished airing in January, a second one was announced and fans were told to expect a Spring premiere. It wasn’t until earlier this month, however, that the anime’s official Twitter account revealed the new season is scheduled to begin on April 9. Additionally, fans can rest assured that each new episode will be broadcast every Sunday until the season’s conclusion.

Unlike the first season, which mostly focused on Suletta’s time at the Asticassia School of Technology, the upcoming episodes are expected to dive into the aftermath of season one’s terrible attack and follow through on the finale’s cliffhanger. Unfortunately, though, right now there’s no information about how many episodes season two will have, but 12 is the most likely number, as was the case with season one.

Along with the much-awaited release announcement, fans were also gifted with a short teaser video, portraying Suletta, Miorine, and the Gundam Aerial Rebuild, the series’ main Gundam suit.

The Witch from Mercury‘s second season will be broadcast in Japan via MBS/TBS network, but at the time of writing, there has been no official announcement regarding its international release. However, considering Crunchyroll licensed the anime via Studio Sunrise and simulcasted the first season, it’s expected that the same will happen with season two.

While waiting for Suletta and Miorine’s return, fans can stream the anime’s first season on Crunchyroll. Alternatively, most episodes of the anime are also available with subtitles on the Mobile Suit Gundam official YouTube channel.
